We have had great success in the past teaching students with Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) such as Dyslexia and ADHD.

We have found that the key lies in patiently assessing the changing needs of each individual student and amending classroom instruction accordingly

There is much trial and error involved in the teaching of students who learn differently and we have found that there is no one size fits all formula. Some students present challenges in reading, while others have more difficulties with writing. Differences in the severity of their difficulties also vary widely. While all students learn at different rates, it is particularly important to respect the learning rate of students with learning differences. Often they need much more time to commit language structures and vocabulary to memory, and require lots of repetition.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

Due to the very individual needs of SpLD learners, we recommend that students initially be placed in private classes where the teacher may better assess and focus on their specific requirements. SpLD students benefit greatly from one on one instruction as they are able to go at their own pace, outside the time pressures of our main suite curricula which are geared towards an external end of year Cambridge exam. Our SpLD students are assessed using both traditional and non-traditional testing which aims to track their level of improvement

The aim of our SpLD programmes is to equip our students with the tools to reach their maximum language potential. The personal or academic language goals of each student are always taken into consideration when designing a programme; while some students may aim to learn English well enough to communicate without wanting to take exams, others may wish to eventually acquire an exam certificate as proof of their language proficiency for academic of professional advancement. With the proper time and instruction in an individual setting, many students are later able to join group classes at a more advanced level such as IGCSE. Our SpLD programmes are always tailor made and utilise a wide array of learning methods and technologies such as phonetic, mnemonic and audio-visual instruction

Ongoing research in the fields of Linguistics, Psychology, and Neurology
As well as in many other disciplines is constantly leading to advancements in our understanding of SpLDs and how they affect learning. As a result we consider it our responsibility to make sure we remain up to date with the latest developments in the field.
